Winter is here.

Winter is probably my least favourite season. I find it hard to get out of bed in the morning, my toes are always cold, grey skies are very unmotivating and watching my son play soccer with the wind blowing a gale is not an enjoyable experience.

However, living in Queensland I’m lucky that winter is short and sharp. I look forward to the Ekka winds in August because I know that summer is building and it won’t be long before I’m outside again enjoying the sunshine and activity.

Winter does have its advantages though. The most important is that my birthday isn’t far away and I look forward to being spoilt by my kids and family and wonder what beautiful handmade gifts my daughter will make for me this year.

Second, it’s easier to give myself permission to laze on the couch reading a good book, watch a DVD with the kids, or simply soak longer in the bath because it’s cold and/or rainy and I don’t want to go outside.

And third, my favourite……the clothes. I love wearing my boots, scarves and winter jackets. Boots are so versatile they can be worn anywhere, anytime. They are great for keeping toes warm and they are comfortable so owning 3 pairs of black ankle boots isn’t over the top. It’s variety!

So for the next 8 – 10 weeks I won’t focus on the grey skies and falling temperature, rather what it can provide – a winter wardrobe and much needed relaxation.
